占地球面积的三分之二的海洋在很大程度上改善了岛屿及沿海地区的小气候条件,特别是在调节气温方面。早在1178年南宋韩彦直的世界第一部柑桔著作《桔录》中,就有沿海种桔的记载。1983年据我国商品性生产柑桔的十二省统计,总产量为2,592万担,而沿海地区就占51％。我省沿海地区的产量占全省的81.1％。我市为浙江柑桔栽培北缘地带,冬季有强大冷空气南下,每易造成柑桔冻害,因此,选择受海洋调节,气候适宜的区域栽培柑桔,是我市北缘柑桔栽培成功的关键。
