日本的几家大型钢铁企业近年来都已在生产上应用了转炉火焰喷补炉衬的技术。如日本钢管的扇岛工厂在250吨复合吹炼转炉上,川崎钢铁公司的千叶工厂在85吨的K-BOF炉上,以及新日铁继转炉喷补自动化以后也分别在八幡工厂的170吨转炉和室兰工厂110吨转炉进行了工作。从他们的报导看来,火焰喷补可以解决转炉冶炼不锈钢的补炉问题。由于冶炼不锈钢炉温提高,吹炼时间延长,用通常的半湿法喷补不能维持一炉,而火焰喷补每补炉一次可炼不锈钢二至四炉。这主要是因为补炉料在火焰加热下,形成半熔融状态的表面有较好的附着能力,可以形成致密的喷补层。
