1947年底至1948年初,由于香港当局单方面强行拆迁尚有争议的九龙城中国民房,致使该城中国居民与港方警察发生较大冲突,结果中国居民多人受伤,两名居民代表竞遭逮捕,这就是曾一度引起轩然大波的“九龙城事件”。在全国舆论的压力下,国民政府外交部曾就此事与英方进行了长时间的交涉,然终无结果。本组史料选自当时中国外交部与驻英大使馆之间关于九龙城事件对英交涉来往电文,从中可以了解此事的端倪。
From late 1947 to early 1948, as a result of the unilateral demolition of the controversial Kowloon-City Chinese houses by Hong Kong authorities, the Chinese residents in Hong Kong clashed with the Hong Kong-side police. As a result, many residents were wounded and two resident representatives were arrested for arrest This is the Kowloon City incident which once caused a great uproar. Under the pressure of public opinion throughout the country, the Foreign Ministry of the Kuomintang Government held a long time’s negotiation with the British side on this issue, but without any result at all. The historical data of this group are taken from the message between the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the British Embassy about the incident in Kowloon City handed down to the United Kingdom from the time of the incident.
