特拉华(Delaware)河第一个局部的水力模型于1935年在水道试验站建造,其范围从人工岛(Artificial Island)到贝耳武伊(Bellvue),包括切萨皮克(Chesapeake)与特拉华运河的一个短的河段(见图1)。模型的主要目的是研究切萨皮克和特拉华运河在特拉华河一端的各种减淤工程计划,但模型也完成了关于特拉华航道深水角区、纽卡斯尔以及芬司角区域(in Deepwater Point Range and in New Castle and FinnsPoint Ranges)的各种减淤计戈Ⅱ的研究。模型平面比尺1:800,垂直比尺1:80,潮汐与潮流由两端各置一套潮汐控制仪产生,模型中发展了用轻质沙模拟航道淤沙的技术。
The first localized hydraulic model of the Delaware River was built at the Hydrostatic Pilot Station in 1935 and ranges from Artificial Island to Bellvue including Chesapeake and A short stretch of the Delaware Canal (see Figure 1). The main purpose of the model was to study various silt reduction projects at the Chesapeake and Delaware canals at one end of the Delaware River. However, the model was also completed on the Deepwater Point of the Delaware Waterway, Newcastle, in Deepwater Point Range and in New Castle and FinnsPoint Ranges. The scale of the model plane is 1: 800 and the vertical scale is 1:80. Tide and tidal current are generated by a set of tide control instruments installed at both ends. In the model, the technique of simulating silt in the waterway with light-weight sand has been developed.
