北京火车站是一九五九年国庆十大工程之一。它的建造规模宏伟,设备先进,技术复杂,是我国建筑史上一项伟大的创举。铁道部为了把反映这一伟大工程的技术档案整理的系统、完整、准确,决定以北京铁路局为主,由三十二个单位抽调工程技术和有关人员,进行了收集和整理工作,从一九六三年十一月开始,历时达七个月之久。这次整理档案收获很大,主要是收集整理出了一套比较完整、系统、准确的北京站工程档案,重新绘制了一套新竣工图,结合技术档案的核对、鉴定,对整个工程的站场通信信号站舍大楼大桥等基建设备的质量进行
