I once pointed out in an article that modern ink and wash are in a dilemma. On the one hand, if the traditional “pen centering” position continues to be adhered to, then the pen and ink have been cured and the spiritual tendencies for development Is very limited, and can easily fall into the misunderstanding of “modern concepts + ink and brush processing = modern ink and wash”; on the other hand, if we abandon the position of “pen center”, modern ink and wash can only develop in the direction of abstract ink and wash ink, which is the only In connotation and extension of the consistency of the choice, and this is for many practitioners unwilling to admit. In fact, only abstract ink and wash may occupy a place in the international art today, possessing capital is the irreplaceability of ink and wash.
