Japan has studied a new sol-gel process for preparing α Al 2 O 3 at 950 ℃. Using isopropoxy aluminum, organic solvent and stabilizer acetic acid to form anhydrous alumina sol, the sol is dried and then heat treated to form α-Al 2 O 3 sol-condensate from γ Al 2 O 3 into α Al 2 O 3 at 950 ° C.
