截至2004年底,全国党员总数为6960.3万名,2004年全国共发展党员241.8万名,比上年净增137.1万名。全国现有党的基层组织347.7万个,比上年增加2.6万个,其中基层党委17.1万个、党总支部20万个、党支部310.6万个。党员队伍构成党员的性别、民族和学历(见图①)。女党员1295.6万名,占党员总数的18.6%,比上年增长0.5个百分点。少数民族党员441.4万名,占6.3%,与上年所占比例持平。具有高中以上学历的党员3940.7万名,占56.6%,比上年增长1.4个百分点(其中,大专以上学历的党员占27.3%,比上年增长1.6个百分点)。
By the end of 2004, the total number of Party members in the country was 69,603,000. In 2004, 2,481,000 were members of the CPC with a net increase of 1,371,000 over the previous year. The number of grassroots organizations in the country’s existing party totaled 3.477 million, an increase of 26,000 over the previous year, including 171,000 grassroots Party committees, 200,000 party general branches and 3.16 million party branches. Party members constitute the party’s gender, ethnicity and education (see Figure ①). 12,956,000 female party members, accounting for 18.6% of the total number of party members, an increase of 0.5 percentage points over the previous year. 4,414,000 minority members, accounting for 6.3%, the same as the previous year. 39,407,000 have party members with high school education or above, accounting for 56.6%, an increase of 1.4 percentage points over the previous year (among them, Party members with a college education or above account for 27.3%, an increase of 1.6 percentage points over the previous year).
