As we all know, the United States is a big country for immigrants. At present, there are only over 2.5 million inhabitants of the United States, including Indians and Eskimos, 500% less than 1% of the U.S. population. Migrants account for 99% of the U.S. population, so the United States has a “melting pot”. In the movie “The Sound of Music,” the von Tröps and his wife’s experiences are inevitable for immigrants to gradually integrate into the buffer period of American society, while immigrants strive to maintain the independence of local culture. The couple’s experience illustrates the culture of immigration in the United States.
