Analysis of Water Transport Operations in the First Half of the Year Driven by the sustained and rapid growth of the national economy, various indicators of China’s water transport continued to maintain strong growth momentum in the first half of 2004, and the volume of waterway freight and port cargo throughput increased rapidly. From January to June, the country’s waterway freight traffic volume reached 842 million tons, an increase of 20% over the same period of last year.
