Sherwood Anderson has a very special status in the history of American modern literature. He did not win awards such as the Nobel Prize for Literature or the Pulitzer Prize to prove his literary achievement. However, his “town mania” is indeed a classic short story set in the history of American literature, creating a new “American-style writing tradition ”. His work has a profound impact on the creation of the next generation of writers, including a large number of American contemporary writers such as Faulkner, Hemingway, Thomas Wolf and Saul Bellow. Faulkner called it “the father of the writers of our generation.” “Tortoise” by the introduction of “Talents” and 24 independent and closely linked short composition. Throughout the book is George Willard, the characters in each short story are trying to open up to him, or in some way affect him. Willard is the “town of people ” look forward to, it is “abnormal people ” of their sustenance, so understand Willard’s growth, also understand “abnormal people ” their mentality.
