1974年从河北引进北京杨种条10万株,分别在甘孜州姑咱、凉山州西昌种子站、阿坝州的马尔康、米亚罗等地栽培。1978年除在以上地区引进北京杨外,又在凉山州的美姑县引种沙兰杨、意大利杨;在普格县引种箭杆杨、沙兰杨。引种区属四川盆地西缘,地处东经100°10′——103°50′北纬27°13′——31°31′,海拔500—3500m,年平均气温5.0—17.0℃,年平均降雨量566—1478m,多集中在6—8月。气候包括亚热带、暖温带、温带和寒带。
