《布洛陀》是壮族民间宗教经典,是壮族传统观念文化的核心和标志。美籍学者贺大卫(David Holm)基于田野考察,以显微研究的文化解读方法,对《布洛陀》部分文本进行了英译,出版了《布洛陀》英译选本的系列译作:《杀牛祭祖》(2003)、《招魂》(2004)、《汉王与祖王》(2015)。译作中的英译文本篇幅不多,辅以插图、译本序言、原抄本说明、标音说明、缩略说明、附带光盘、详细文本原注、民族志注释、术语索引等,通过序言、说明、评注等方式将文本置于丰富的文化和语言环境中,对英译文本进行了典型的民族志阐释,形成了典型的研究型译作,开创了壮族典籍英译的新范式。
