Harkin is the most awarded and honored Chinese-American writer in the United States. In his first novel, The Pond, he describes the controversial issue of the protagonist Shao Bin and the difficult life surrounding the people around him. Ironically at the time of society as a pro-marriage with the social phenomenon and officialdom on the official support of the ugly reality. This is a story about Shao Bin’s narrative novel, but also explores the reality of social darkness and the transformation of human nature novels.
