过去几年在澳大利亚的生活中,我有幸结识到来自不同国家及社会背景的朋友们,感受到了多元化社会的魅力,对移民文化产生了浓厚的兴趣。自从上世纪80年代初以来,有大批东南亚女性移民涌入澳大利亚,这其中尤以菲律宾女性居多。她们以伴侣或是未婚妻的名分移民澳大利亚,人数之多,令人无法想象。澳洲移民机构,推出过一部名为《婚嫁和移民到澳大利亚——菲律宾移民在澳洲的经历》的教育宣传短片,希望帮助菲律宾新移民做好准备,迎接在澳新生活的挑战。婚姻伴侣在澳洲移民申请人数中占据着相当大的比例,澳洲政府也十分关注这部分人口对澳洲社会结构改变所带来的影响。
In Australia’s life over the past few years, I have the honor to meet friends from different countries and social backgrounds, feel the charm of a diverse society, and have a strong interest in the immigrant culture. Since the early 1980s, a large number of women migrants from Southeast Asia have flooded into Australia, especially among Filipino women. It is unthinkable that they have emigrated to Australia in the name of their spouses or fiancés. The Australian immigration agency has introduced an educational video titled “Marriage and Immigration to Australia - Philippine Immigrants’ Experience in Australia”, hoping to help the Filipino newcomers prepare for the new life in Australia. Marriage partners make up a significant proportion of immigrant applicants in Australia and the Australian government is very much concerned about the impact of this part of the population on the structural changes in Australia.
