腊梅(Chimonanthus praecox)别名蜡梅、黄梅、腊木、香梅、黄腊花等,腊梅科。腊梅是落叶灌木,原产中国中部各省,是我国特有的珍贵花木。1987年在鄂西北山区建立了中国第一个野生腊梅自然保护区,区内有腊梅50余万株。因腊梅通常在农历腊月开花,因花的香味与梅花相似,又因其花黄色晶莹透明,很象蜂蜡,而得其名。

Lamei is a deciduous shrub, native to all provinces of central China, is China’s unique precious flowers. In 1987, the first wild Lamei Nature Reserve in China was established in the mountainous area in the northwest of Hubei Province. There are more than 500,000 blooms in the area. Because Lamei usually bloom in the twelfth lunar month, because of the fragrance of flowers similar to plum, because of its yellow crystal clear transparent, much like beeswax, and its name.
