结饰起源于结绳记事,最早可上溯至距今7万至10万年前的旧石器时代。在远古华夏大地上,“结”曾被先民们赋予了“契”和“约”的法律表达功能和记载历史事件的作用。正所谓“结绳为约,事大,大结其绳,事小,小结其绳”(东汉诗人郑玄语),一个结就是一次事件,一个寓意,一种象征。而从皮绳到草绳、麻绳、线绳、丝绳乃至今天的化纤绳……很难说不是一段完整的历史;把不同的事编结成不同的结,如此说来家事、国事、天下事,乃至心事、情事便一目了然了。只不过别的种族也曾懂得结绳以求铭记
