市场经济的兴起,使中专学校面临着严峻的挑战,分不出、招不进、留不住成了中专学校难以克服的顽症。在严峻的挑战面前,我校以抓科研为龙头,推动教育质量的提高,不仅取得了一大批科研成果。涌现出包括享受国务院特殊津贴的天麻专家王少柏在内的一大批学科带头人,而且由于知名度和信誉度日益提升,赢得了四方莘莘学子的踊跃报考,学校越办越活。近3年有30余人次的教师共获省、市政府科技进步奖10项。仅在1998年.学校就有二项科研成果荣获湖北省科技进步二、三等奖,有一项科技成果获宜昌市科技进步三等奖。
