本次测试工作由HENDERSON通讯实验室(HENDERSON COMMUNICA-TIONS LABORATORlES,HCL)完成。测试时使用的设备能够生成所有在美国大陆地区的PSTN网络(公共交换式电话网络)中常见的各类线路损伤。测试中考察到的每一种线路损伤都对应着一个LOO值(可能出现机率)。该值代表着在任意一次给定的modem呼叫过程中发生此类线路损伤的机率。为了准确地模拟出PSTN网络中的真实情况,针对每一种参评modem都需要对160种线路损伤逐项进行考察。测试结果将依照所得连接速度从快到慢的顺序列出,并根据其LOO值的不同进行加权和图表化。本次评测使用3种著名的远程接入服务器来对每一种调制解调器进行测试,它们分别是——3Com公司的Total Control RAS、Ascend公司的Max 2000 RAS以及Lucent公司的PortMaster 3 RAS。这三种远程接入服务器准确地代表了现实世界中这些调制解调器的一般使用条件。
This test was performed by HENDERSON COMMUNICA TIONS LABORATORIES (HCL). The equipment used in the test was able to generate all kinds of line impairments that are common to all PSTN networks in the continental United States (Public Switched Telephone Network). Each line damage observed in the test corresponds to an LOO value (probability of occurrence). This value represents the probability of such line impairments occurring during any given modem call. In order to accurately simulate the real situation in the PSTN network, it is necessary to inspect 160 kinds of line damages item by item for each type of modem. The test results will be listed in ascending order of speed of the resulting connections and weighted and charted according to their LOO values. This evaluation uses three well-known remote access servers to test each modem: Total Control RAS from 3Com, Max 2000 RAS from Ascend, and PortMaster 3 RAS from Lucent. These three remote access servers accurately represent the general conditions of use of these modems in the real world.
