“Believe in Performances: A Platonic Identity in Cognitive Perspectives” is a new result of Loctnitz’s application of cognitive science to drama studies. She believes that reason tends to lead to suspicion, and trust is easily established through intuitive intuition and insight. She also noted that the theatrical performances and appreciations need physical help, while often involving bizarre episodes, it is easy to build trust. She cites four typical plays: Shakespeare fights skepticism with “winter stories,” Stapall challenges relativism with “parody,” and Webenweis treats “for our homeland” as a counterpoint to indifference and mistrust Kauffman sees “33 variations” as a masterpiece of despair beyond death.
