Pandey et al. (1980, 1982) suggested that irradiated male gametes could be used as a vector for animal genetic variation. Genetic variations in the color of eggs and feathers have been obtained using irradiated roosters sperm. Recipient hens were first inseminated with irradiated sperm, and after 24 hours, the second artificial insemination was performed with the non-irradiated sperm of the recipient strain. Transferred gene expression is irregular, may occur in the first generation after irradiation sperm artificial insemination, but also can occur in backcrossing offspring. This suggests that normal recessive bases that bind to heterologous sites on the chromosome of the recipient
