Hepatic surgery recently noted the nutritional status of liver cancer patients undergoing hepatic resection. The vast majority of liver cancer patients have cirrhosis and must undergo liver resection when their nutritional status is unsatisfactory. Cirrhosis is thought to be in a period of “protein malnutrition” that is an over-catabolism. The use of branched-chain amino acids can correct this “malnutrition.” The aim of the study was to clarify the effect of long-term oral branched-chain amino acids on clinical symptoms, laboratory parameters, recurrence of cancer, and improved survival in patients with primary liver cancer undergoing hepatectomy. METHODS: Within 2 to 3 weeks after surgery, 75 patients were randomly assigned to receive oral branched-chain amino acids, 100 g daily for a total of 1
