西安市木材加工厂,经过数月的研究,试制成功部分菱苦土制品代替建筑木材用。其中有门、窗、踏脚板、门窗头线、挂镜线、楼梯扶手弯头、耐火地板、鉋花板,各种家俱……等。另外,木材厂的废料锯木、鉋花也可利用代替建筑木材,制作家俱。这些制品经过物理试验,无论是抗拉、抗折、压力、浸水、受潮、耐火性能方面都很好。如将试件放入水中试验,经过3个多月,沒有变形变质现象;放在开水中煮沸4小时,没有破损;在摄氏600～800度的火炉内燃烧5分钟,也未发现有损毁现象。
