重庆是第二批全国历史文化名城,文物资源十分丰富。近年来,重庆市文物系统落实措施保护城市文脉,推动文物工作上了新台阶。据第三次全国文物普查,本市新发现不可移动文物1.72万处,全市总量达2.59万处,位居全国第11、西部第3。重庆在三峡文物抢救性保护中,完成考古、勘探面积1015万平方米,发掘面积126万平方米,出土一般文物14.3万件,其中珍贵文物8000件。在抗战遗址、红岩文物保护方面也取得实质性突破。从2009年开始,重庆在全国独家推出“文化遗产月”宣传活动,广泛开展文物保护知识普及活动,
