About 60% of tantalum oxide is used to produce capacitors. Over the past 15 years, the average growth rate of world tantalum demand has been 6% and the annual demand for tantalum oxide has reached about 5 million pounds. It is noteworthy that the global supply of existing tantalum producers is declining, causing the industry to focus its attention on new and old mining projects in Mozambique and on the development of tantalum in Egypt.
