Idioms are the essence of human language. The theory of conceptual metaphor in cognitive linguistics provides a new perspective for the study, analysis and interpretation of English idioms. By analyzing the conceptual metaphors hidden in English idioms, it is of great significance for us to understand their historical origins and cultural connotations in a proper way.
