作为全美人口最稀少的一个州,内布拉斯加州总人口只有170万,坐落在内布拉斯加州的莫诺维镇如今总人口只有1人,堪称“全球最小镇”。别看莫诺维镇规模小,它却是于1996年在美国联邦政府正式注册认可的行政单位。1971年,埃尔希和丈夫卢迪从附近拥有200名居民的林奇镇搬来时,莫诺维镇还算“人丁兴旺”,全镇共有居民25人。可是随着时代变迁,由于居民自然死亡或者远走异乡,莫诺维镇上的人口逐渐减少。到了1996年,爱勒夫妇和另一位居民就成了小镇“硕果仅存”的常住人口。
As one of the most sparsely populated states in the country, Nebraska has a population of only 1.7 million. The town of Monowez, Nebraska now has a total population of only 1, making it “the smallest town in the world.” Despite the small size of Monoway, it was an officially accredited administrative unit in the United States federal government in 1996. When Erich and her husband, Luddy, moved from Lynch, a town of about 200, in 1971, Monové was still “thriving,” with 25 inhabitants. However, with the changing times, the population in Monovie township has been gradually declining due to natural deaths of residents or excursions. By 1996, the Ailehs and another resident became the “fruitful” permanent residents of the town.
