民族语言建设曾为我国社会主义建设作出了巨大贡献。西部大开发具有民族性 ,它将给民族语言建设带来新的机遇和挑战。民族语言建设的理论与实践对于维护我国民族团结、社会稳定 ,促进民族地区经济发展 ,保护和发展民族文化以及提高少数民族文化素质都有着重要的作用 ,我们应该通过立法、语言教育、民族语言现代化等方式促进民族语言建设 ,发展、繁荣和保护民族语言。研究民族语言建设对西部大开发战略的实施有重要的现实意义
