Leo Argum Mines has eight uranium mines and water plants in the Elliott Lake area of Ontario, seven of which were discontinued in 1960. Only one mine is now operating to meet the needs of the current contract. Although ore reserves below 2.0 lb / t U_3O_8 in the area are large, they are not yet mineable under current economic conditions. Leo Argom Mining is enthusiastic about beneficiation for three reasons: (1) making low-grade ore available to broaden ore sources, (2) reducing processing costs for the ore currently being mined, and (3) reducing investment in expansion of production Fees to meet the needs of future production. Leo Argome has been investigating the applicability of various beneficiation methods in laboratories and intermediate plants since the 1950s. Research methods include heavy medium beneficiation, strong magnetic field wet magnetic separation, uranium mineral flotation, acid mineral flotation, and radioactive beneficiation, optoelectronic processing, conductive beneficiation and other electronic beneficiation methods. None of the experimental methods are satisfactory, based on the Rio Urge company’s standard for uranium recovery and production costs, mainly because uranium loss rates are too high for desirable abandonment rates. This article reviews the watermelting effect and its economic evaluation of the beneficiation test.
