应用四苯硼鈉为分析試剂(或滴定剂)直接或間接测定药物含量的分析方法称为四苯硼鈉法。四苯硼鈉法是近十年来才发展起来的一种新的化学分析法。1949年Wittig等首先报告了四苯硼鈉的合成及其与金属离子的反应。1950~1956年Wittig及共同事更对四苯硼鈉在分析化学上的应用进行了系統的研究。1957年Keller及Weiss提出了应用四苯硼鈉法测定有机化合物。最近几年来,随着测定方法及滴定技术的进一步发展,四苯硼鈉法的应用也有了新的进展。目前,四苯硼鈉法不仅用于鉀盐、銨盐等无机药物的测定及有关杂质的检查,而且在有机药物如生物硷类及許多季銨盐类药物的分析中也获得了較为广泛的应用。
