Through the submerged arc welding test on X80 pipeline steel, the effects of alloying elements Mn and Ni on the microstructure and mechanical properties of the submerged arc welded steel in high strength pipeline steel were analyzed. The experimental results show that when the content of Mn is too high, the cold crack sensitivity index of the weld metal increases, and the original austenite grain size is refined, which is unfavorable to acicular ferrite nucleation. In contrast, Cold crack sensitive index of the impact of small, and the weld metal easy to produce cross-slip, easier to ensure the weld acicular ferrite content, thereby increasing the toughness of the weld metal; In addition, with the Mn, Ni element content Increase, weld pro-eutectoid ferrite is inhibited.
