朋友,你见过世界上最大的柳杉群落吗?你知道它在哪里?它就在天目山。北魏地理学家郦道元曾考察过天目山,他在《水经注》中写道:“浙江水出吴兴郡于潜镇北天目山……山上有霜木,皆是数百年树,谓之翔凤林……”对开山老殿一带的柳杉作了较早的记载。 据《西天目祖山志》记载:开山老殿建于公元1279年。建殿后,僧人们曾多次修筑道路并在两旁植树,因此天目山路旁的大树多为僧人所植,这也可以算是我国较早的行道树吧!它们井然有序、威武挺拔地排列在山路两旁,好似一支庞大的仪仗队在此迎宾。只有天目山开山老殿附近的柳杉多为野生的,它们混生在其他原始林木中,大者需数人合抱,树龄达千年。
