X-Butyl 14565P is a new butyl rubber developed by Lanxess. This rubber has a permanent ionic charge attached to the butyl backbone. In addition to its traditional butyl rubber properties (impermeability and low temperature flexibility), this new butyl ion polymer exhibits many unique physical and dynamic properties, including superior compound strength, increased polymer - filler interaction and stable granulation. It has been demonstrated that the incorporation of butyl ion polymer in the butyl rubber innerliner formulation increases the strength of the compound and helps to increase the dimensional stability required in the extrusion and calendering processes. The airtight layer with X-Butyl 14565P significantly improves crack growth resistance and adhesion to carcass rubber without affecting other compound properties. Such performance can make the tire inner liner has a longer life, and is conducive to the manufacture and renovation of construction machinery tires.
