1937年7月7日，卢沟桥的枪声，打碎了校园的宁静，不久，平、津沦陷。8月，教育部决定，北京大学、清华大学、南开大学组成长沙临时大学；年底，南京沦陷，1938年春，临时大学南迁云南昆明，国立西南联合大学成立，开始了八年的充满艰辛而又成果丰硕的“联大”时期。在这一阶段，大学校园的文艺活动不但没有因为环境的简陋而沉寂，相反，众多的文艺团体和刊物在四季如春的昆明蓬勃生发，显示出特定的时代风采。
July 7, 1937, Lugou bridge gunfire, breaking the quiet campus, and soon, Ping, Tianjin fall. In August, the Ministry of Education decided that Peking University, Tsinghua University and Nankai University should form Changsha Provisional University. At the end of the year, Nanjing fell into the city. In the spring of 1938, Provisional University moved southward to Kunming, Yunnan Province, and the National Southwestern Associated University was founded. It started eight years full of hardship Fruitful “United Nations” period. At this stage, not only did the cultural activities in university campuses not be silent because of the simple environment, on the contrary, many literary groups and publications flourished in Kunming, where the spring season lasted, showing a certain era style.
