哈萨克斯坦独立以来,经济和社会发展全面下滑,直到1996年才勉强遏住颓势,但整个形势仍相当严峻。其国民生产总值目前只相当于70年代初期水平,工农业生产总值在国民生产总值中的比重均大幅下降。尽管私有化步伐很快,对外经济联系不断扩大,国家外汇存底和利用外资的数量逐年增多,但国民经济的原料色彩比原苏联时期更加浓重,轻工业和高技术产业发展滞后问题十分突出。两极分化仍在继续,大多数居民的生活条件和状况持续恶化,各种各样的社会问题积重难返
Since the independence of Kazakhstan, economic and social development have been declining in all aspects and it was not until 1996 that it managed to contain the decline.
