Scientists at SRI International are evaluating new drug targets for tuberculosis and recently demonstrated through preclinical studies that a single target quickly eradicates infection and shortens the duration of tuberculosis treatment. The new drug target is a protein that causes tuberculosis-infected bacteria, DNA gyrase B.
