文言语法实词活用中的使动和意动用法历来不列动词的意动用法一项,教材也不作说明,教者学者常感困惑。周慧颖同志曾就这问题做过精辟的论述(见本刊1982年第6期《动词有意动用法吗?》)。最近有人又问到这个问题。除介绍他阅读周同志的文章外,并参以已意作了些补充说明。补得是否确当,提出来供讨论。所谓使动意动,从语法角度分析固然是语法现象,而其本质却是修辞性的。因为这是在一定条件下(这一点很重要,不是任何名词、动词、形容词在任何形式的句子结构里都可成为使动词或意动词的),
