在植物王国里,竹子和藤类是最具生命力的常绿植物。中国人常用“雨后春笋”、“破土而出”比喻事业兴旺发达、充满生机与活力。由中国政府和加拿大国际发展研究中心(IDRC)、联合国国际农业发展基金(IFAD)共同发起的国际竹藤组织(英文名International Network for Bamboo and Rattan,简称INBAR),于1997年11 月6 日在中国北京宣告成立以来所走过的发展历程,正是这些成语真实的写照。 国际竹藤组织作为第一个总部设在中国的独立的、非赢利性的政府间国际组织和全球惟一专门从事竹藤资源研究与开发的国际机构,通过卓有成效的工作,为促进发展中国家开展竹藤资源科学研究、保护开发和综合利用,帮助竹藤产区人民摆脱贫困,走向富裕做出了成绩,国际影响日趋扩大。
