79106系龙溪农校1978年用汕优二号作母本,威20作父本进行杂交,于1981年育成.属中迟熟早籼品种,是78130姐妹品系.1984～1985年在全省六个地、市进行面积达10多万亩的生产试验示范,普遍获得增产.一般亩产425～475公斤,高的500公斤以上,比78130亩增15～25公斤,增产3.7～6.3%.1985年早季在省农科院甘蔗研究所示范种植38亩,平均亩收干谷445公斤;晚季例种示范32亩,平均亩产450公斤.
