Calcium antagonists represent a new class of drugs of considerable theoretical and practical importance. Many clinical trials suggest its value in the treatment of various cardiovascular diseases. As its name implies, calcium antagonists interfere with the normal function of Ca ~ (++) in the body, including excitation-contraction coupling in smooth muscle and cardiac muscle. Fleckenstein interprets the effects of these drugs as a selective block of the slow pathway in cell membranes, which interferes with the inward calcium flux across the membrane. Authors’ research suggests that other areas of action are equally important. Calcium ions play an important role in the contraction of myocardium, smooth muscle and skeletal muscle, in the secretion of glands and in the release of nerve mediators. Of course
