Euphemism is a universal phenomenon in human language. It is not only a rhetorical method, but also a common cognitive way and an ideological expression of mankind. This article explores the ways and features of the formation and comprehension of English euphemism from the perspective of cognitive metonymy to further reveal the essence of euphemism.
