As discussed in International Defense Review 1979, No. 1, page 126, Krauss-Maffei, the Food Machinery company Ordnance Branch and the Rheinmetall Corporation are working together to create a unique multi-purpose combat vehicle that uses M113A1 car chassis, with emphasis on firepower. As a result, the main firearm of this Fire Support Corps (FSCV) has a caliber of 105 mm and can launch various ammunition produced in many countries. The car is particularly low profile, its basic function is to fire support for combat vehicles, in addition to anti-tank weapons, self-propelled artillery, mechanized infantry fighting vehicles, armored personnel carriers or reconnaissance vehicles.
