Why Discuss and Discuss Economics (Inform-ation Economics) With the widespread use of information systems, the resources of enterprises and governments are also used in the information product-ion. Take the United States as an example. The funds shared in information production two decades ago accounted for only about 1% of the country’s total expenditure. By 1980, it was close to 15%. As far as the average enterprise is concerned, an average of about 6% of the total expenditure is currently spent on information production. Therefore, research on information production and its demand for information resources has become a major part of the information discipline.
