There is a bottle house in Hansen-mura, Futa-cho, Gifu Prefecture, Japan. From afar, the house seems to be “a hundred holes and sores.” Closely examining it, it was “a wonderful workmanship”. Except for doors and windows, 100m~2 houses, including roofs and floors, were all made of ordinary beer bottles. The total amount of empty bottles is 220,000, of which 105,000 are for walls and 85,000 for floors. When the wall is built, the bottom of the bottle faces outward, and when the floor is laid, the bottom of the bottle faces upwards. Therefore, the round shapes are uniform and beautiful. Since the bottle is hollow, it has the functions of moisture resistance, sound insulation, light transmission, and warm winter and cool summer. Its overall solidity is no less than that of a brick structure, and it can be safe in an earthquake.
