水库地震即水库诱发地震的简称,是指水库蓄水后,由于水体作用改变了库坝区原有地震活动强度和频度的规律而诱发的地震。由于其震例多,分布范围广,可能震毁大坝而造成危害人民生命财产的严重后果,从而日益引起人们的重视,成为当前水工建筑和地震工作中的重要科研课题之一。早期的水库地震震例
Reservoir earthquake is the abbreviation of reservoir-induced earthquake. It refers to the earthquake caused by the change of the intensity and frequency of the original seismic activity in the dam area after the reservoir is impounding. Due to its large number of earthquakes and its wide distribution, it may cause serious consequences of damaging the dam and endanger the life and property of the people.
