秃顶子为长白山山脉的延续部分,位于吉林省临江市花山镇八里沟村西面14公里处,海拔1426米,在吉林省的高山排行榜中位居第21名。可能是因为海拔高的原故,此山山顶树木稀少,像一个光秃的脑瓜顶而得名。其实,山顶光秃之处就是一块数百亩大的高山草地,草地的四周被茂密的森林包围着,保存了完整的森林生态系统。每年11月中旬左右,长白山地区就逐渐进入冬季,崇山峻岭也开始呈现冰封雪飘的林海雪原景象。此时的老秃顶子上那积压着厚厚白雪的青松,巍峨地挺立在高山之巅,俯瞰四周,远山近岭如披玉甲,云涛滚滚,气势磅礴。蓝天、白云、雪峰,犹如一幅壮美、秀丽、淡雅的山水画卷令人心醉。
