胶东盆景事业随着当地经济的快速飞跃,迎来了新的发展生机,盆景爱好者越来越多,仅烟台、青岛、威海三市已有盆景业余爱好者3000多人。胶东人一向有着较高的生态保护意识,不滥挖野生资源,不走捷径,以十年一剑的磨砺精神自育素材,所用树材广泛,像莱州的月季盆景、荣成的杜鹃盆景、莱阳的桂花盆景、青岛的忍冬盆景等等,其中最受青睐的还数真柏盆景。伴随盆景业的兴起,盆景的爱好收藏风尚也颇为盛行,雅好此道者不乏其人,已故收藏家姜玉森先生堪称藏品大家。姜先生生前对盆景的鉴赏雅情甚高,艺术品位独到;在他的园中,现在各类树木藏品3000余件,其中不乏名家力作。不走捷径,甘于耐心持久地培育。作品《欣欣向荣》(真柏130×65 cm,树龄30年)。圃育成胚,粗矮的干开权处六大枝聚生。2005年上盆,使左底大枝卧伸,一枝擎起伸展变化的五
