Exposure to various metals due to occupational or environmental effects has a negative impact on human health. Through the adjustment of immune self-stability, metal can change the health status of the human body. An imbalance in the immunomodulation of metals can result in the production of poor or excessive inflammatory cytokines. Metals, on the other hand, can lead to aberrant activation of subsets of lymphocytes involved in adaptive immunity to specific antigens, with the result that some pathological changes occur, including chronic inflammatory processes and autoimmune diseases. Metals can alter the mode of response by modifying the antigen display complex either directly or indirectly affecting the expression of a new antigen, a new peptide, or an antigen. The individual differences and their regulatory mechanisms of metal-induced immune responses are also discussed
