2001年11月23日,成都杜甫草堂博物馆在其北大门内东侧苗圃中,铺埋地下排水管道时发现了唐代瓷器残件。成都市文物考古研究所随即进入现场,会同杜甫草堂博物馆进行抢救性清理发掘,至2002年1月7日,第一阶段发掘工作结束,历时48天。2002年7月1日又在该发掘地点南侧进行了第二阶段的考古发掘,至8月28日结束,历时59天。前后两次发掘面积总计1020平方米,取得了丰硕成果,出土了大量的唐一宋时期的文化遗存。其中最为重要的是发现了唐一宋时期的居住遗址以及有明确纪年的唐代碑刻等。现将考古发掘工作简报如下:
On November 23, 2001, the Du Fu Thatched Cottage Museum in Chengdu discovered porcelain pieces from the Tang Dynasty when it was buried in underground drainage pipes in the east nursery of its north gate. Chengdu Institute of Cultural Relics and Archeology immediately entered the scene and conducted a rescue and excavation with the Du Fu Thatched Cottage Museum. By January 7, 2002, the excavation of the first phase ended 48 days. The second phase of archeological excavations took place on the south side of the excavation site again on July 1, 2002, and ended on August 28, which lasted 59 days. Before and after the two excavation area of a total of 1020 square meters, has achieved fruitful results, unearthed a large number of cultural relics of the Tang and Song Dynasties. The most important of these is the discovery of the Tang Dynasty and the Song Dynasty residence sites as well as a clear anniversary of the Tang Dynasty inscriptions.
