The abrasion jet and the structural characteristics of the abrasive jet were studied through the piercing test of aluminum and steel plates by abrasive jet. Experiments show that the erosion effect of abrasive jet on metal material is the result of the continuous development of plastic deformation and grinding deformation, which is very different from water jet. Perforation testing of glass jets by abrasive jets shows that it can be a new tool for processing brittle materials
